You know it’s a good recipe when I can’t stop eating the props. Seriously, it doesn’t get much better for me than this creamy French cheese! And this camembert cheese appetizer has the added bonus of being topped with lots of sweet, boozy pears and a thick, tangy balsamic vinegar and honey syrup.

And it’s also pretty, right? It’s fancy enough to serve guests. But as promised, it’s also super easy to make and can be thrown together in just a few minutes before you want to serve it.

How to Serve Camembert Cheese Appetizer:

Just a few things to keep in mind when making this recipe.

  • THE CHEESE: I used ripe, creamy, French camembert. I like how well the mild taste pairs with the fruit and syrup. And heating in the oven for about 15 minutes give the cheese that wonderfully melty texture. But you can also serve it at room temperature. And yes, you could also use brie. But the cheese will be a little stronger.
  • THE PEAR: I used a Bosc pear and I did not peel it. I just cut it up and threw it in the pan with the melted butter. You could also use apples. Just make sure they are cooked enough that they are not too crunchy (but not mushy either!).
  • THE BRANDY: I used pear brandy. But you can use any brandy.
  • THE VINEGAR: I used a high-quality, thick balsamic vinegar.
  • SERVE IMMEDIATLY: One more thing — this dish is best served immediately after making it. If you wait too long to serve it both the pears and the syrup will change consistency.
